PRATHAM TRIATHLETES DO IT AGAIN!

On Sunday 16^th May 2010, a group of triathletes took part in the Eton Sprint Triathlon at Dorney in aid of Pratham. For many of them it was their second or third Triathlon for Pratham.

The usual bright sunny skies we have come to expect at Eton were replaced by dark grey clouds, but it didn’t dampen the spirits. With the lake temperature a chilly 11 degrees the wetsuits were a welcome accompaniment for the 400m swim.

First out of the lake for Pratham was Arjun Gadkari completing the swim in 6 mins 45 closely followed by Andre Komatsu at 6 mins 51. The rest of the Pratham participants all successfully managed the swim phase before changing into their cycling gear and beginning the 20km cycle around Dorney Lake. Conditions were not the greatest on the slippy wet roads which meant they had to take more care around the bends.

Pratham supporters cheered the participants on as they completed their 4 circuits of the cycle track. The fastest cyclist of the day was Gehan Talwatte, with a time of 41 mins 32. After a quick turn around it is on to the final stretch. A 5km run up and down the side of the lake.

The fastest to complete the entire triathlon was Gehan Talwatte in 1 hour 17 mins – congratulations to him! Lucy Hallett was the first for the ladies clocking up a time of 1 hour 34 mins.
